James Bond fans declared themselves “over the moon” after Jeffrey Wright was confirmed to make his James Bond return.

Fans of the legendary spy saga were relieved to find out the American actor would be reprising his role as Felix Leiter in Bond 25, over a decade after he starred in Quantum of Solace.

Tweeting their excitement after the 2020 movie’s cast announcement, fans admitted they were “hoping” Wright would make a comeback.

One user wrote: “Don’t care we’re not getting a title announcement today. Jeffrey Wright will be back as Felix, and I’m over the moon. About time! #Bond25.”

“Yes my man @jfreewright is back in the game,” posted another.

A third added: “Highlight of the conference: Jeffrey Wright is back!”

Wright’s return comes as a slate of cast names were revealed in a special Bond 25 live-stream from Ian Fleming's Jamaica home.

Alongside Daniel Craig’s reprisal as the 007 agent, Ben Whishaw (Q), Ralph Fiennes (M), Lea Seydoux (Dr Madeleine Swann) and Naomie Harris (Eve Moneypenny) were all confirmed to return.

Returning: Fans were pleased to Wright reprising his role

Offering a message of warning he told fans he would be “making sure that Mr Bond does not have an easy ride".

Newcomers Ana de Armas and Billy Magnussen were also added to the line-up for the upcoming movie as well as David Dencik, Lashana Lynch and Dali Benssalah.

Despite the excitement around the refreshed cast, fans were left disappointed that the special video stream did not confirm the title. Shatterhand was thought to be the working title before producer Barbara Broccoli shut it down. "Eclipse" was recently bandied about after Bond fansite MI6 HQ spotted it was listed as a working title for B25 Productions on Mandy.com, which is a job site for the creative industry.

Bond 25 is slated for release on April 25, 2020 after the date was pushed back from 2019.
