Beyonce steals show from the Queen as singer replaces monarch in Madame Tussauds' royal display
Beyoncé has stolen the crown from the Queen in Madame Tussauds London's royal display.
The singer, whose devoted fans often refer to her as "Queen Bey," took the spot traditionally reserved for Queen Elizabeth II in the tourist attraction, alongside wax versions of royals including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The new waxwork pays homage to the megastar's Homecoming headline performance at Coachella, dressed in a yellow Balmain hoodie and denim shorts.
The swap will only last for one day, with the Queen set to return to her central spot in the royal exhibition tomorrow.
On a usual day, the monarch is surrounded by waxworks of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh.
Steve Davies, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “Beyonce is a living legend, rightly crowned Queen Bey by her legions of fans and industry insiders.
“If anyone is fitting of a claim to The Queen’s spot in our attraction for the very first time, it’s Beyoncé.
“HRH Queen Elizabeth II is famous for her mischievous sense of humour and we think a wry smile will cross her face when she sees that music royalty has temporarily filled her shoes.
“In the words of Beyoncé herself, Her Majesty is most definitely ‘irreplaceable’ so Queen Bey will take her spot for one day only before her figure moves to own our music stage.”
Beyoncé is not new to royalty as she mingled with Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the London premiere of Disney’s The Lion King in July.
Members of the Beyhive - the global Beyonce fan club - will be pleased to know that a second waxwork of the singer is set to be unveiled at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas in October.
