Beyoncé stole the show at this year’s Country Music Awards as she put on an ‘epic’ performance with the Dixie Chicks.

She might not be known for her country style, but the pop superstar was the main talking point at this year’s ceremony as she teamed up with the trio on Wednesday night.

Making her CMAs debut, Beyoncé adapted her song Daddy Lessons for the Nashville event, giving it a folky edge.

The music icon didn’t hold back with her outfit either, wearing a very sheer embellished gown for the performance.

Predictably, fans were blown away by the duet, with many people praising the star for bringing country music back to its ‘roots’.

Ahead of the show, one person wrote on Twittter: “Beyoncé's about to bring the true black roots of country music right to the #CMAs stage. This performance will be epic. I'm shaking already.”

“Now I need a Beyonce country album and I'm not even that big a fan. Epic. Love the Dixie Chicks back in action," someone else posted after the star opened the ceremony.

“#Beyonce and @dixiechicks!!! Epic!!! They slayed!!!! Yes, queen bee can sing country! #CMAawards50 #flawless,” wrote another.

Taylor Swift also made her return to the CMAs this year, taking to the stage to present Entertainer of the Year to Garth Brooks.

“It's almost been 13 years since I came to Nashville to become a songwriter and recording artist and I've learned so much about what it means to be an entertainer from the remarkable artists in this arena tonight,” she said.

“That's one of the reasons I feel so honoured to present this award to any one of these five outstanding nominees for Entertainer of the Year and be a part of this historic night we will always remember.”
