The weather forecast may look bleak but don't let that dampen your Bank Holiday fun. We've complied a list of events that are sure to brighten your day, come rain or shine...

London MCM Expo

One for the sci-fi fans, this show features exhibits from a wide range of entertainment genres including films, star guests, robots from hit TV shows, Gaming@Expo displays and the best dealers from across Europe.

Brentford Waterside Festival

This event promises all the colour and splendour of a carnival, the food and drink of a farmers' market and the sounds and entertainment of a street party. The festival programme includes street entertainment, live music, a farmers' market, craft stalls, boat trips and children's activities.

The festival will take place from 11am to 5pm on 27 May around the Brentford Lock area in West London and entry is free.

Paradise Gardens

There is a weekend of events lined-up, including giant lily lanterns on the lake, a ghost pagoda, the designer Village Fair, music and dance performances and fire concerts from French pyrotechnics wizards Les Commandos Percu.

Tate Long Weekend

Tate Modern presents a landmark festival of entertaining live events. During the day there will be performance events, interactive family activities, a skate ramp, graffiti workshops, art talks and food stalls. In the evening, they'll be one-off late-night performances by Courtney Pine, DJ Spooky, The Real Tuesday Weld and Robert Henke.

Tower Hamlets May Day Open Day

A must for those interested in wildlife, woodland or local history, this open day includes a bouncy castle, guided walks, face painting, fun and games.

Spring Jazz Festival

The annual spring jazz celebration features the cream of Britain's contemporary jazz musicians in original works.

Queen Elizabeth Collection

This is the first exhibition drawn from Queen Elizabeth's collection and features 73 watercolours and drawings including Thomas Gainsborough and John Bratby.
