The worst kept secret in music is out after Adele confirmed she will sing the theme to the new Bond film Skyfall.

A picture posted to Twitter seemed to show the singer in a recording studio with a piece of paper with the song title Skyfall.

It is written by Adele and Paul Epworth who co-wrote and produced her massive hit Rolling in the Deep.

A leading bookmaker paid out on bets Adele will sing the new James Bond theme last month, before the news was officially confirmed.

The film, again starring Daniel Craig as Bond, is to be given its premiere next month.

She follows Jack White and Alicia Keys, who provided the theme to A Quantum Of Solace, while Chris Cornell voiced Craig's first 007 performance, Casino Royale.

Other notable Bond singers include Lulu, Sir Tom Jones and Dame Shirley Bassey, as well as A-Ha and Duran Duran.
