Absolutely Fabulous may come to an end with a movie spin-off as actress Joanna Lumley is no longer interested in playing her character Patsy on TV.

The hit sitcom starring Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley will conclude with a movie send-off as Joanna doesn't want to reprise her character on TV again.

Jennifer - who also writes the show - admits she was initially reluctant about the idea, saying: "So many people have said, 'We'd love to see it', and I think, 'Yeah, but then it'll go wrong and everyone will hate me.' "

However, the actress-and-writer has come up with a "really good plot" for the film.

She added to Gay Times magazine: "That's where films fall down, when it's just a series of sketches."

Absolutely Fabulous has aired four full series between 1992 and 2003, as well as numerous special episodes in the intermittent years.

Jennifer and Joanna most recently reprised their roles as boozy PR agent Edina Monsoon and magazine editor Patsy Stone in three specials to coincide with the show's 20th anniversary in 2012.

The last episode aired in July 2012 to mark the launch of the London 2012 Olympics.

Jennifer first announced a movie spin-off of the hit show in 2011, but earlier this year admitted she was no longer confident about the film and feared the cast were "too old".
