Celebrities share messages for International Women’s Day 2023

International Women’s Day 2023 is being celebrated on March 8 and celebrities are marking the occasion with messages of support.

The global initiative promotes equality and champions women who have fought for rights or made a difference in their field or community.

Here are some of the famous faces who have marked International Women’s Day.

Sandi Toksvig

In a tweet, the presenter and activist wrote: “Happy International Women’s Day everyone. The UN says there’s only 300 more years till gender equality! Still, at least we have today! Love you all.”

Carol Vorderman

The original Countdown co-presenter was the first female voice on Channel 4 back in 1982. She hinted in a tweet on Wednesday that “it would be nice to be back”.

“I have a lot to say,” she added.

David Beckham

The former footballer shared pictures of women in his life on Instagram.

“On this International Women’s Day I want to celebrate the amazing women in my life who inspire me with their work ethic, loyalty, kindness and love for their families,” Beckham wrote.

He shared pictures of his wife Victoria, daughter Harper, his two sisters Lynne and Joanne, his mother Sandra, and his mother-in-law Jackie.

Amanda Holden

The Britain’s Got Talent judge shared a range of pictures on Instagram of friends and family members she credits for helping her through life.

“I admire them all so much and over the years stood in awe of their achievements,” she said. “The advice, care and support as well as the endless laughs are something I can’t live without.”

Tess Daly

The Strictly Come Dancing co-host shared an Instagram picture of a message reading “where there is a woman there is magic” in celebration.

She wrote: “From the mother who raised me, to the daughters I encourage to follow their dreams and to always know their self worth.

“To the many teachers who have so generously guided me and the precious friends who bring nothing but love and good vibes.”

Holly Willoughby

The co-presenter of This Morning promised the Wednesday edition would be themed around International Women’s Day.

“We will be surprising a very determined and inspiring woman… can’t say any more than that,” she teased.
