Cameron Diaz seems to be trying just a touch too hard to prove there's no bitterness between her and ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

They may have arrived separately on the green carpet at the London premiere of Shrek 3 last night, but she soon made a beeline for the SexyBack singer.

"We still love each other, we spent four years together so there is no reason for us not to be friends," Cameron said.

Cameron, 34, is now dating illusionist Criss Angel - but that didn't stop her cosying up to a life-sized Shrek at the Leicester Square screening.

Diaz, 34, reprises her role as the voice of Princess Fiona while singer Timberlake, 26, voices newcomer Artie, Fiona's rebellious cousin.

Hundreds of female fans chanted Timberlake's name at the glittering Leicester Square event.

But Diaz, who has switched her hair colour back from brunette to blonde said she did not find being with Timberlake, her partner for more than three years, awkward.

"I really like it. We're friends. It's good to see him, " she said.

"It's great having him around. We've not been able to sit down and have a chat yet we've been so busy."

Diaz, who looked glamorous in a long black Chanel dress, said of the premiere: "I'm enjoying it. It's great, it's so much fun."

And she added of the movie: "When you're not dealing with the physical world it's so much easier."

Asked about her reported friendship with Victoria Beckham she said: "She's a very nice lady. Very sweet but I've only met her once. We were wearing the same shoes."

The third movie in the Shrek series has already claimed the US record for the biggest animated film opening in box office history.

Melanie B's former flame Eddie Murphy, who plays Blabbermouth the donkey, was not at tonight's premiere.

But those on the green carpet included the film's star Mike Myers, Antonio Banderas and Rupert Everett.

Banderas told Five Live Drive he believed David Beckham could be making movies before long.

He said of the footballer's move from Real Madrid to US football club LA Galaxy: "It was a big blow, because actually we need him in Madrid.

"Actually he played this year fantastic. But anyway, you know, his career, he had to make his decision.

"If he's not in Madrid, he's going to be in Los Angeles, so maybe I have the possibility just to see him there.

"And I guarantee you - I am going to predict something - we are going to see David Beckham making movies in three or four years from now."

Timberlake said of the premiere: "It's massive, it doesn't get any bigger than this I don't think."

Everett (Prince Charming) added: "The story is great and it looks unbelievable. It works on so many different levels.
