Calvin Harris has failed to knock Ed Sheeran off the album chart top spot with new release Funk Wav Bounces – Vol 1.

The Scottish DJ has had to settle for second place in this week’s charts, having put up a good fight against the British singer-songwriter.

While Sheeran’s Divide logs a 12th non-consecutive week at number one, Harris’ fifth record is the highest new entry at number two, followed by Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s Human, which is at number three.

Royal Blood’s How Did We Get So Dark? takes up fourth position, followed by rockers Stone Sour’s Hydrograd.

Sheeran’s third studio album debuted at number one in the UK when it was released back in March, selling 672,000 units in the first week.

It also debuted in the top spot on the US Billboard 200 and became the top-selling album of 2017 in the US on July 4.

All of the tracks on the album reached the top 20 in the UK singles chart thanks to the record-breaking streaming figures.

In the singles chart, Despacito, which features Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber and which previously knocked Simon Cowell’s Grenfell Tower charity off the top position, holds on to number one.

The top five is completed by DJ Khaled’s Wild Thoughts featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, French Montana’s Unforgettable featuring Swae Lee, Jonas Blue’s Mama and Liam Payne’s Strip That Down.
