He always tells us that Princess Diana called him her 'rock', but Paul Burrell was anything but rock solid on I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here! yesterday.

The former royal butler screamed and squealed when he was sealed inside a cave full of creepy-crawlies and rats during his bushtucker trial.

After he was chosen for the challenge in a public phone vote, he seemed to be on the verge of blubbing.

He was shaking as he went into the cave, where he had to find ten stars to convert into meals for his fellow celebrities on the ITV show.

As he began to feel his way around in the darkness, he touched some rats and squeaked: 'Oh ****, oh my God. What's that?'

He walked through some cobwebs and mealworms, then when some eel slime fell on him he shouted: 'Where is it. ****! Oh! Oh ****! For Christ's sake, give me a star!'

After finding the first one he tried to recover his composure, telling himself: 'Come on, come on, come on, come on.'

But when he encountered more creepy-crawlies in the darkness he shouted: 'No, no, no, no, no, no! Where am I going? What's that?'

Burrell, 45, finally made his way through some snakes and bugs, collecting more stars, and on to a rock island.

After he was released from the cave he said: 'I didn't like it at all. It was pitch black, I couldn't see a thing. I didn't know where to put my hands and what was there.'

Hosts Ant and Dec said they couldn't help laughing at the fuss Burrell made. 'It was hilarious - he didn't shut up once,' said Ant.

There was more screaming when model Sophie Anderton and singer Natalie Appleton had a row which ended with Miss Appleton bursting into tears.

The pair were working out how to carry a chest back to the celebrities' camp when they began arguing over

who should go first. Miss Appleton turned on her colleague and shouted: 'You do it right and you let everyone know you do it! I'm a bit ****** off with you now. You are Miss Perfect for the camera - well, you can carry it (the chest) down by yourself. Every day it's, "Me, me, me!" '

Each accused the other of being 'self-obsessed' and a 'prima donna', and the argument continued back at the camp, where they hurled expletives at each other.

Miss Appleton screeched: 'Do you have a heart? All you care about is how you look!'

Miss Anderton spat back, 'You've been a total bitch' before storming out of the camp with Vic Reeves's wife Nancy Sorrell comforting her.

The arrival of comedian Reeves in the camp appears to have upset some of the contestants, and his smooching with wife Nancy has not go down well.

After they sneaked off for a kiss, Janet Street-Porter moaned: 'I've now cleared the kitchen, piled up the washing up in the basket. If she [Nancy] does one more thing when she's supposed to work, then I'm gonna go for her.'

Her outburst left Miss Sorrell in tears - but it looks like she may provoke more troubled today after she promised her husband a private nude swim.
