The son of pop star Bryan Ferry has been dropped as a candidate in next week's local elections because he is not old enough.

Isaac Ferry was standing for election for the Green Party in Holland Park as a single-issue candidate.

But he has now been disqualified after it was revealed that he will not be 21 until after the 4 May elections - breaking electionlaw which says all candidates must be 21 or over.

Mr Ferry - whose brother Otis was arrested after he stormed the House of Commons - could be found guilty of breaching the Representation of the Peoples Act 1983. His disqualification from the elections could also cause problems in the Holland Park ward because his name could still appear on ballot papers, confusing voters and raising fears over the effect it may have on the overall result.

Mr Ferry was campaigning on the issue of Kensington & Chelsea council's plan to sell Holland Park School's playing field for housing. But his electionbid became irrelevant when it was discovered he does not turn 21 until 16 May.

A spokeswoman for the Green Party confirmed that Isaac Ferry would be disqualified. She said: "The Green Party agent in Kensington and Chelsea acted in good faith believing Mr Ferry was

21."

Mr Ferry said today: "There was no deceit on my behalf."
