Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have reportedly reached an agreement over the custody of their five dogs.

Asghari, 29, filed for divorce last Wednesday (August 16) citing “irreconcilable differences” and stated that they had separated almost three weeks ago.

The divorce documents, which were filed at a court in Los Angeles, state that the personal trainer intends to obtain financial support from Spears, and have her pay for his lawyers.

The filing also says the value of Spears’ and Asghari’s assets, and those they own jointly, has yet to be determined.

While finanical assets are up in the air, it’s was recently claimed that the Circus hitmaker was worried that the 29-year-old budding actor would try to take their dogs.

In the wake of their split, a source told MailOnline: “Regarding [Britney and Sam’s shared] property, the most difficult part of dividing any assets will be their dogs.”

The former couple share five canines, a Doberman named Porsha, which Asghari bought for the star in October 2021 as a protection dog as well as an Australian Shepherd called Sawyer, Hannah the Yorkie and two other small dogs.

However, according to TMZ, the personal trainer will retain custody of Porsha while Spears will keep the other four dogs.

The Standard have contacted Britney Spears and Sam Asghari’s reps for comment.

Both Spears and Asghari have publicly addressed their split on social media, with the pop star telling fans she “couldn’t take the pain anymore” but will remain strong in the face of adversity in light of the divorce.

Meanwhile Asghari took to social media to ask for kindness and acknowledged that asking for privacy “seems ridiculous” but asked that the media be “kind and thoughtful”.

The couple tied the knot at a star-studded ceremony at the US singer’s home in Los Angeles in June 2022, attended by high-profile celebrities including Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton.

It came after the couple met on the set of the Slumber Party music video in 2016, before getting engaged in September 2021.

The marriage to Asghari is Spears’ third, having divorced Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two children – Sean and Jayden, in 2007.

She was also married to Jason Alexander in 2004, but it was annulled after just 55 hours.
