Brenda Edwards has revealed the signs she believes her late son Jamal Edwards has sent her, letting her know he is close by.

Jamal died aged 31 last February after suffering a heart attack following the use of recreational drugs.

Brenda, 53, visited the Loose Women studio on Thursday to commemorate Jamal as this week marked the first anniversary of his death.

Jamal famously founded music channel SBTV and had a hand in launching the careers of several UK artists including Ed Sheeran, who paid tribute to his late friend earlier this week.

While discussing Jamal’s legacy, Brenda shared on Loose Women that she’s noticed signs from Jamal, reminding her that he is always with her.

Brenda said: “When he passed, we kept seeing things on the telly, and people might say, ‘Oh it is because this has happened’, but we would see things and it was something we had never watched and all of a sudden someone says the name Jamal.

“Or after he passed, they were playing the song Peru [which Sheeran featured on], which was a big track, but it was just hitting us.

“As we would say his name, something would come up.”

Brenda also spoke about a blue light appearing at home, after switching on a mood light, signalling Jamal’s favourite colour.

She said: “[My daughter] went to turn the light on, its blue. She went to change it... its blue. It stayed blue.”

Brenda recalled being “chased” by a fox, which was the first animal Jamal filmed on a camera she gifted him when he was 15.

She shared that she ended up feeding the fox and when she asked if it was Jamal, the animal walked away.

“That felt like an acknowledgement that he knew I was feeling a bit down at that time and he came and brought the fox spirit for me,” Brenda added.

Elsewhere on the Loose Women episode, Brenda and her daughter Tanisha discussed setting up The Jamal Edwards Self Belief Trust in a pre-recorded segment.

In the clip, Brenda said: “For everything he’s done and what he did for other people selflessly, it is important for me to know I have to carry it on.

“So many young people need help and I want to be able to continue that legacy he started... and I know he is with me the whole way.”
