WAGs are well-known for their love of fashion.

But new kid on the block Claudine Palmer earned a style red card when she made the ultimate faux pas... wearing the same outfit twice in a row.

Robbie Keane's wife scored the own goal when she was seen in Dublin sporting the same skinny jeans, vest top and jacket she had worn the day before in Liverpool.

The 25-year-old had even accessorised her favourite outfit with the same sunglasses, bag and shoes -leading to speculation about her lack of clothing.

Claudine surely can't be short of a few clothes, so it was unclear why she had decided not to get changed unless it was laundry day in the Keane/Palmer household.

Alex Curran can now rest easy knowing that she can keep her crown as the best-dressed WAG in Liverpool.

Just yesterday it seemed Claudine had overtaken Alex in the  fashion stakes when her glamorous rock chick look outshone the queen WAG's dressed down appearance.

But Claudine's rookie mistake means that Alex is still number one in the WAG showdown.

Yesterday Alex defended her status when she stepped out to the hairdressers after spending the day stocking up on new clothes for the new season.

As husband Steven Gerrard prepares to captain Liverpool through another season of top flight football, it appears wife Alex has begun training of her own - flexing her credit cards.

Alex made her appearance in the town centre after economics graduate and model Claudine, the wife of the Liverpool FC's new signing, had been making her presence felt in the city's boutiques.

Alex is having to raise her game this season - as it appears her title as the WAG queen of Liverpool could be under threat.

And she's clearly keen to lay down the style gauntlet, as she wore a ruffled smock dress with a bubble hem, paired with the season's trendy gold gladiator sandals, and a designer bag.

But for now, Alex remains at the top of the WAG's premier league as Claudine's dated WAG look of white jeans, overly highlighted blonde locks, white jacket and big belt earns her a red card.

Alex stopped off at Liverpool's Cricket fashion boutique on Matthew Street, after which she enjoyed a chat with a busker dressed as John Lennon outside the Cavern Club.

As he began singing Liverpool football chants, a clearly amused Alex stopped for a brief singalong.

Meanwhile Claudine, the wife of former Tottenham Hotspur striker Keane made her first appearance in the city this week following her husband’s transfer to the club.

The couple - who were married in June - spent the day shopping at the local Sainsbury's before taking their dog for a walk.

Clearly, once the season kicks off this weekend, life is definitely going to get interesting on the players lounge.
