Australian rockers Jet have been forced to pull out of the V Festival.

The band has cancelled performances in Chelmsford and Stafford following the death of the father of Nic (singer and guitarist) and Chris (singer and drummer) Cester.

The group was due to appear after Kings Of Leon on the NME Stage at this weekend's annual event.

V Festival organiser Denis Desmond said: "Our sincere and heartfelt sympathy extends to Nic, Chris and the Cester family.

"It is regrettable that Jet will not be appearing but we and their fans will completely understand their decision."

This weekend's festival features the likes of The Strokes, Dido and the Pixies.

Other acts include Pink, Massive Attack, Primal Scream, Divine Comedy and Big
Brovaz.
