Myleene Klass gave birth to a baby girl yesterday after going into labour as she made her way home from presenting her BBC show.

Ava was born three-and-a-half weeks early and weighing 5lbs 9oz - the due date had been September 7.

The 29-year-old former Hear'Say singer gave birth in the private Lindo Wing of the St Mary's Hospital in Paddington at 1.45pm with fiance Graham Quinn by her side.

"Myleene had a problem-free labour, and mother and baby are doing well. She and Graham are ecstatic.

"The baby is named Ava Quinn," her spokesman said.

The M&S model went into labour on Wednesday night shortly after co-presenting BBC1's The One Show.

Her spokesman added: "Myleene presented The One Show and felt a bit weird on the way home. She went to the hospital to get checked out and they told her she was in labour.

"The birth went very smoothly and all is well, but her stint on the show is obviously over."

Days before the birth, Klass spoke of the difficulty her and Graham had had choosing a name.

She said: "We're delighted because we both really wanted a girl, but finding a name is proving tough.

"Graham thinks I keep coming up with ones that sound like Vegas showgirls or Austro-Hungarian aristocrats, and the names he picks have no vowels, because he's Irish."

Throughout her pregnancy Myleene has maintained a phenomenal and very high-profile workload, as bubbly co-host with Adrian Chiles of The One Show five nights a week, presenting a pop show on Capital and a classical show on Classic FM every Saturday and Sunday morning, and releasing Myleene's Music for Romance, the first of a series of pop-classical CDs as part of a £1 million deal with EMI.

Just a few days ago, she flew by private jet to Venice for a Christmas catalogue shoot for M&S.

She apparently took the jet as no airlines would take her when she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant.

She spent two days in Venice shooting the advert on the Orient Express with models Erin O'Connor, Laura Bailey and Twiggy.

Myleene is also understood to be writing a baby diary with a ghost-writer about the very personal journey though the nine months of the pregnancy.

Furthermore she is also planning a separate autobiography to come out next year.

"She worked right up to the birth. She has been phenomenally busy. I only spoke to her yesterday and she did say she felt a kind of tingling.

"Then I suppose, it all happened pretty soon after that," said a friend.

Klass's colleagues on The One Show said: "We're delighted and thrilled for Myleene."

She will be replaced on the programme by presenter Christine Bleakley.
