Arctic Monkeys and Bjork to play Glastonbury Festival

The Arctic Monkeys and Bjork are the first major acts to be confirmed for this year's Glastonbury Festival.

The Sheffield band, fronted by Alex Turner, and the Icelandic singer will play the main Pyramid Stage during the event on Michael Eavis's Somerset farm in June.

His daughter Emily said: "We're absolutely thrilled to be able to put Bjork and the Arctic Monkeys on because both are firm favourites in our household."

Also set to be appearing at the legendary festival are The Who. He confirmed the band after guitarist Pete Townsend let the cat out of the bag during an interview with Xfm.

However, Mr Eavis would not confirm that The Who were 'biggest rock band in the world' he had referred to in an earlier interview with BBC 6 Music.
