BBC bosses are attempting to poach Ant and Dec back from ITV in a bold multimillion-pound deal.

The I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here presenters are renegotiating their two-year ITV contract - currently worth about £4 million - which is due for renewal in October.

But after losing Michael Parkinson to ITV, it is understood BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey is keen to sign them up for the battle of the Saturday night ratings.

The Geordie duo, both 28, started their TV careers on the BBC's children's serial Byker Grove and have presented Pop Idol.
