Tributes have poured in for Amy Winehouse on what would have marked her 40th birthday.

The singer died at the age of 27 in 2011 — however, her legacy as a talented artist and a British icon lives on.

Today, Amy would have celebrated turning 40 years old and, in a testament to this unforgettable star, a number of tributes have been shared across social media.

Here, we take a look at what her friends and fans have said in memory of Amy Winehouse.

Amy Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil speaks on TV

Amy was married to Blake for two years between 2007 and 2009. He was in prison when the star died two years later.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain today, Blake admitted that he thought about the singer a lot.

He said on the show: “It’s devastating she’s not here. I think about her a lot, I thought about her this morning when I woke up and said my happy birthday to her.”

Blake added: “I’ll always, always, always miss her. She was my best friend, and we were married.”

Amy Winehouse’s bandmates pay tribute in Camden

The Amy Winehouse Band — made up of Ade Omotayo, Dale Davis, Nathan Allen, and Hawi Gondwe — gathered at the Hawley Arms in London on the eve of her 40th birthday.

As well as meeting up at several local haunts in Camden, the band has also promised to hold a concert in the London borough in December.

Amy Winehouse’s fans reflect on social media

Naturally, tributes have also flooded in across social media as people from around the world reflected on Amy’s legacy.

“No celebrity death hit me like Amy Winehouse’s did. She’d be 40 today, & every year I listen to her music on her birthday. Forever grateful I got to experience her live in Liverpool in 2007, in a tiny venue where the sweat dripped off the ceiling into her beehive by the end,” wrote one fan.

“Happy heavenly birthday to Amy Winehouse who would have been 40 today. An incredible talent whose passing leaves us forever wondering how much more she would have given us musically,” said another.

Another wrote: “Thinking of Amy Winehouse today on what would have been her 40th birthday. Still can’t believe she’s no longer with us. Her talent was extraordinary and we’re so lucky to still have her music to listen to. Which I do, almost every day.”
