All aboard the South Sea express!
Jump aboard for a fabulous day of free entertainment for all ages as the
All Aboard! includes international street theatre, music, walk-about entertainers, backstage tours, workshops, story-telling and a grand finale in Theatre Square.
Events will cast off at 2pm with an elaborate aerial display when members of Transe Express will be flown over the audience on a spectacular human-mobile amidst a ticker-tape explosion.
The afternoon continues with live music, dance, drama, story-telling, treasure hunts, face painting, workshops galore and backstage tours. At 6.30pm there's a theatrical quiz with two NT companies fighting it out in a light-hearted, fast-moving battle of theatre knowledge during which the audience will be called upon to help them out! Celebrity guest host Emma Freud will be posing the questions.
Children of all ages will have their very own oasis to play in with balloon crafting, dressing-up and face painting; older ones can immerse themselves in the mask-making workshops. Magic shows, story-telling and singing workshops, aimed at a variety of age groups, will also help bring out the South Sea sunshine.
The day will end with a grand finale. The anchor will be lowered at 7.30pm when special guests from the cast of South Pacific join water wizards Avanti Display for Bali Ha'i-dromania, a flamboyant water and light spectacular which promises to transform the National into a giant water fountain!
