The search is on for a British family to star in their very own version of The Truman Show. Their every move will be broadcast via webcam in a 100-day "social experiment".

The show is the brainchild of technology firm Epson, who believe the public will be clamouring to watch fly-on-the-wall footage of unknowns washing the dishes, sitting down to Sunday lunch or watching TV.

Rather than searching for an outrageous clan in the mould of The Osbournes, they want the stars of the show to be "a typical 21st century British family".

Jane Barnard, Epson marketing communications manager, said: "We anticipate the Epson family could become an international phenomenon. "We want to prove once and for all that when it comes to UK family life, there is actually no such thing as a typical family, as all families experience unique and exciting moments throughout their lives."

The winning family will be paid £11,250 to take part in the project - the UK's typical wage for that amount of time. The show will start broadcasting in March next year. Families can enter by visiting the website www.the-epson-family.com and scouts will also be conducting a nationwide search.
