Although only in its second year, Equus: The Horse Event has already proved extremely popular.

This year there will be 200 exhibitors, a business forum, the Healthy Horse Arena (covering nutrition, saddlery, behaviour and farriery), demonstrations from Iberico the Lusitano stallion, the Indoor Carriage Driving Competition and an eventing clinic with champion horsewoman Lucinda Green. You can also expect to see an array of alternative horse-sports, such as polocrosse, western riding and horseball.

Star of the show is Bob The Cob. Rescued by the International League For The Protection Of Horses as a starving two-year-old, Bob will be saddled and - hopefully - ridden for the first time, to demonstrate training techniques (Sun 7 Apr, 12.15pm).

The evening extravaganzas will see equine entertainment from dancing miniature horses the Mini Marvels (Fri 5, 6pm), as well as El Caballo de Espa?a, an equestrian theatre show with Andalucian stallions and flamenco dancers (Sat 6, 6pm).

Perfect horsey entertainment to start the new season.

Equus: The Horse Event, until Sun 7 Apr, ExCel Docklands, E16 (0870 121 5330).
