You can now buy a pink cheese that tastes of Prosecco

Has millennial madness finally reached its peak?
Bianca Barratt7 November 2017

From the Yorkshire pudding burrito to the mince pie croissant, it’s no secret that us Brits love a food hybrid but is the latest one to emerge taking it one step too far?

Instead of pairing cheese and wine in the traditional manner, The Great British Cheese Company has decided to cut out the middle man and create a raspberry Prosecco-flavoured Wensleydale.

Not only that, but the cheese in question is actually coloured the perfect shade of millennial pink.

Encased in a wax shell so bright that even Barbie would be blinded, the pink cheese will certainly add a bit of colour to the usual cheddar-and-brie-combo found on most Christmas cheese boards and the flavouring isn’t necessarily as odd as you might think.

As a rather heavy and full flavoured cheese, Wensleydale can be a lot to handle on its own, which is why it’s often paired with cranberries or apricots to help cut through the richness.

Raspberry Prosecco, then, isn’t too much of a stretch as it’s also acidic and should balance out the cheese flavour, although how the fizzyness will feel on the tongue is anyone’s guess.

The Great British Cheese Company

Whether you love or loathe the look of it, this little truckle is worth incorporating into your festive feast either way – it’ll make a good talking point if anything.

Priced at £4.50, it can be bought on The Great British Cheese Company website.
