Nopi

Co-written by Yotam Ottolenghi and Nopi head chef Ramael Scully, it contains the recipes for the 100 most popular dishes from Ottolenghi’s Soho restaurant, with decent helpings of starters, mains and desserts.

Spuntino

Another Soho site, though Spuntino is inspired by the tastes of New York: Russell Norman’s cookbook stars 120 of the Big Apple’s juiciest dishes. It doubles as a travel book — he maps out the districts where you can find NYC’s best slap-up meals.

Mildreds: The Vegetarian Cookbook

This mild-mannered vegetarian restaurant on Lexington Street spills its herbivorous secrets and shows that eating (exclusively) green has its rich and varied options. There are recipes for starters, soups, mezze, salads and burgers (and plenty of sauces to dollop on top).

Honey & Co

This multi-award-winning cookbook from the team behind the Warren Street restaurant dishes out tagines, stews, dips, soups and salads from the many regions of the Middle East and North Africa.

Rosa’s Thai Cafe

Rosa’s Thai Cafe has six sites across the capital, or you could just put her on your kitchen shelf and concoct her rich, aromatic Thai food — inspired by traditional recipes but with modern, often European influences — yourself. £20, rosasthaicafe.com
