Sex on the menu for men

Make a date: 43% of men would go all the way on first date
5 April 2012

More than 40% of men would have sex on a first date, according to a This is London survey.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we asked how far you would go on a first date and 43% of men said they would go all the way, compared with just 14% of women.

This is London, the capital's number one entertainment website, asked readers to answer a range of questions about dating and Valentine's Day.

Johnny Depp is considered the ideal blind date by most women (30%) followed by Brad Pitt (21%) and Robbie Williams (17%). Most men would be pleased to be confronted by the voluptuous figure of Scarlett Johansson on a blind date (18%) followed by Keira Knightley (16%) and Angelina Jolie (15%).

But make sure you are clean and presentable for your first date. Bad body odour is considered the biggest turn off in a potential partner (28%) with bad breath (23%) not far behind.

And whatever you do, put thoughts of your ex girlfriend or boyfriend to the back of your mind. Talking about a former partner is considered the biggest first date mistake by 32% of This is London readers. Talking about yourself all night was found to be most annoying by 21% of readers followed by getting too drunk (18%).

And when it comes down to finding that special someone, a good personality, it seems, is a major turn on with 51% of men and 65% of women saying it was the biggest aphrodisiac.

Meanwhile, men looking for an ideal present for their loved on February 14 should look no further than their travel agents. More than a quarter of women said they would most like to be treated to a weekend away on Valentine's Day, followed by flowers then 'just a card'.

Nearly 40% of men said their partner expected them to organise everything and splash out on Valentine's Day (compared with just nine per cent of women) while 40% of women claimed their partners barely noticed what day it was on February 14.

Meanwhile, 70% of men said they believe in love at first sight, compared to 58% of women.
