Robson not rushing coach decision

Laura Robson will not be rushed into deciding whether Miles Maclagan will carry on as her full-time coach.

Robson turned to Maclagan for help on a temporary basis after she split with Croatian Zeljko Krajan just before the French Open. The Scot earned many a plaudit for his work with compatriot Andy Murray, but Robson wants to see how her bond with the 38-year-old develops before employing him as her coach on a full-time basis.

Robson, Britain's number one female tennis player said: "We have only been working together for a week so we still have a lot to work on. For the moment it is temporary but we will see how it goes."

Robson thrilled the nation last summer when she partnered Murray to a silver medal in the mixed doubles during the Olympics, but her form has been up and down since.

The 19-year-old has suffered disappointing early exits to weaker opposition in Doha, Dubai, Indian Wells and most recently in Birmingham, where she lost to world number 60 Daniela Hantuchova.

Those results have come alongside much better performances in grand slams such as the Australian Open and the US Open, where she claimed the prize scalps of Petra Kvitova and Li Na respectively.

She therefore hopes she can raise her game again at the All England Club in just over two weeks' time.

"I tend to play well in the big matches so I'm hopeful it will stay that way for Wimbledon," said, Robson, who was speaking on behalf of Virgin Active following a practice session with Sir Richard Branson in front of the London Eye.

"I think all players tend to try to hit their best around the slams and peak for those events. I practised at Wimbledon on the courts this morning so I'm getting ready and hopefully it will go well."
