Robson makes progress in China

Laura Robson advanced to the second round of the China Open with a straight-sets victory over Japanese veteran Kimiko Date-Krumm.

The 18-year-old world number 57 saw off 42-year-old wild card Date-Krumm 6-4 6-4 in one hour 22 minutes.

Robson will face Lourdes Dominguez Lino in round two after the Spaniard overcame 15th-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci 6-7 (4/7) 7-6 (7/4) 6-2.
