Question mark over Kaboul

Younes Kaboul has not played for Spurs since he aggravated a knee injury in August

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul was described as untroubled on his return to action, but it remains to be seen if the Frenchman will travel to Basle for this week's Europa League quarter-final second leg.

The 27-year-old has not played for Spurs since he aggravated a knee injury following the opening match of the season at Newcastle. Kaboul, who was Tottenham's most consistent centre-back last season, underwent surgery in August and was initially expected to be out for four months, but he has struggled in his rehabilitation from the injury.

On Monday night he made his comeback, playing 60 minutes of an under-21 match against West Ham at Upton Park.

Coach Chris Ramsey said on Spurs' official website: "He did well, had no problems really.

"He wanted to play an extra 15 minutes as well, showed a fantastic attitude and wanted to push his fitness a little more."

Former Portsmouth defender Kaboul could travel to Switzerland on Wednesday, with Spurs and Basle level in the tie ahead of Thursday's decisive second leg.

A more realistic comeback game would be the club's Barclays Premier League clash against Manchester City on April 21, with Spurs granted a rest this weekend due to Chelsea's participation in the FA Cup semi-finals.
