Moon shines as Rhinos beat Broncos

Joel Moon scored a brace of tries as Leeds defeated London Broncos
13 April 2013

Leeds Rhinos silenced Super League's deadliest tryscorer and saw off London Broncos 30-6 in the process on a dreary night at Headingley.

While the Broncos may not be the competition's best team, in Kieran Dixon they have its hottest property. However, the winger was not able to add to his 14 tries so far here, with the capital club heading home with Alex Hurst's late consolation as their only score.

Dixon was a virtual spectator for most of the game as Leeds ran in five tries through Joel Moon (2), Jak Hardaker, Danny McGuire and Kallum Watkins - captain Kevin Sinfield kicking 10 points and moving to within five of being the sixth highest point-scorer in the sport's history.

Morgan Escare pressed his claims for a World Cup spot as the Catalan Dragons condemned St Helens to a third defeat in four games - a 22-12 result at Langtree Park.

The 22-year-old Escare scored his fourth try in just five Super League appearances and looked an accomplished full-back in attack and defence.

Winger Frederic Vaccari went over at the corner after 26 minutes for the away side, 10 minutes before Escare's effort, and Ian Henderson crossed over at the death for the Dragons, who recorded an impressive third away victory of the season.

Catalan were also indebted to experienced half-back Thomas Bosc, who kicked five goals, while Iosia Soliola and Alex Walmsley scored the tries for Saints and Mark Percival added the extras.
