Three of England's Test stars made their first LV= County Championship appearances of the season as Lancashire hosted Division One rivals Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford.

James Anderson returned to the Lancashire side, with Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad - playing for the first time since flying home from Sri Lanka with a calf problem - in for the visitors.

The match is Lancashire's first championship fixture at their redeveloped headquarters since September 2010 and the first to take place since the square was rotated as part of the ground's extensive revamp.

Anderson was given an early chance to impress with the ball as Nottinghamshire skipper Chris Read won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Red Rose will be looking to Anderson to inspire them to a first victory of the season, having started their title defence with two defeats and a draw.
