Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has confirmed Richard Dunne will play some part in Sunday's friendly against Georgia.

The 33-year-old central defender has not made a single appearance for either his club Aston Villa or his country all season because of injury. However, having trained with his international team-mates for the last few days, he is set to end his enforced exile at the Aviva Stadium.

Trapattoni said: "I have spoken with him and I have already said he will play some of the game on Sunday. Whether he will start or come on later, we have to decide, but it is possible for him to play."

Full-back Marc Wilson, who missed Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with England because of a calf problem, will also be involved, and both back-up keepers, Keiren Westwood and Darren Randolph, could see action.

However, Trapattoni has indicated that key midfielder Glenn Whelan will be rested five days before the World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands.
