Chisora stops unbeaten Scott

Britain's Dereck Chisora claimed the vacant WBO international heavyweight title with a bizarre sixth-round stoppage of previously unbeaten American Malik Scott at Wembley Arena.

The 29-year-old from Finchley (17-4, 11 KOs) was on the front foot from the start and had Scott (35-1-1, 12 KOs) nursing swelling under his right eye after round one.

Philadelphia-born Scott found his feet in the following couple of rounds but was on the receiving end of some solid body-shots in round four.

Then, after a closely fought fifth round, Chisora suddenly floored Scott with a right hook in the sixth. The 32-year-old appeared able to continue, but did not get up until the referee had reached nine in his count and the contest was over.

Chisora, who undertook anger-management lessons and swapped binges on Jaffa Cakes for a carefully controlled diet in preparation for the bout, set his sights on a rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko immediately after his victory.

"I knew if I caught him he was going to go down, and I caught him," the Zimbabwe-born boxer told www.fightnews.com. "I want to go back to Germany and fight Vitali again."

Scott insisted he had beaten the count, saying: "I'm a professional. Dereck hit me with a good shot. I gave myself an eight-count and was up at nine."
