Catalan face anxious wait over Dureau

Scott Dureau had to be taken away in an ambulance

Widnes and Catalan Dragons shared the points in a 32-32 draw but the French side ended the game with serious concerns about the health of scrum-half Scott Dureau.

The Australian was taken away from the stadium in an ambulance after complaining of double vision while lining up a 60th-minute conversion. Dureau last week returned to action for the first time after a nine-month lay-off because of a brain tumour. He had been complaining of double vision prior to that but, after undergoing surgery, was given the all-clear to resume his career.

It overshadowed the game itself, which was a thrilling end-to-end encounter with 12 tries in total. Jack Owens and Frank Winterstein both notched braces for Widnes, while Morgan Escare scored a hat-trick of tries for Catalan, including a superb 80-metre dash after Steve Menzies created an overlap following a simple move from the scrum.

Wigan survived an almighty scare against Wakefield to record a 36-23 win - their 10th Super League victory in succession - and move five points clear at the top of the table.

A hat-trick from England winger Josh Charnley laid the platform for the visitors, who had to overcome a spirited, if not injury depleted Wakefield side that led for large periods of the game. Harrison Hansen, Lee Mossop and Darrell Goulding also crossed for the visitors and Pat Richards kicked six goals.

Former Salford pair Stefan Ratchford and Richie Myler tormented their old club as Warrington hammered the hapless City Reds 68-10.

The Wolves half-backs ran through the visiting defence at will in a one-sided clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in which Ratchford finished with a personal haul of 24 points. Myler also crossed while Ben Westwood passed his century of tries for the club by claiming a hat-trick.

Joel Monaghan and Ben Currie also claimed two apiece for the Wolves with Chris Riley, Michael Monaghan and Micky Higham also on the scoresheet in a 12-try display. It was the third of three heavy defeats for Salford by Warrington this season and, for all their recent improvement, highlighted the work new coach Brian Noble still has to do.

Hull KR put their Etihad Stadium disappointment behind them with a 28-18 win over Bradford to return to the top eight. Despite trailing 8-4 at the break, Rovers put in a superb second-half performance to take the spoils and banish the memory of their last-minute heartbreak against Hull FC a week ago.

Lincoln Withers and Rhys Lovegrove both crossed twice while Craig Hall also scored for KR, with Michael Dobson adding four goals. The Bulls' tries came from Jarrod Sammut, Keith Lulia and Michael Platt.
