Another live music event is to take place in Scotland, adding to BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend.

Around 4,000 free tickets are being made available for Radio 1Xtra Live, an outdoor gig at Glasgow's Riverside Museum on May 17 that will showcase urban music.

A host of DJs including MistaJam, Charlie Sloth, DJ Fresh, Duke Dumont and Breach will play at the event, a week before Pharrell Williams, Rita Ora and Paolo Nutini perform at the Big Weekend festival in the city.

The event is part of the BBC's build up to the Commonwealth Games which are being held in Glasgow in July and August. T ickets will be made available online next weekend, with the majority set aside for people living in Glasgow and the rest of Scotland.

Jason Carter, head of live music and events, said: "For the very first time we are adding to the excitement and build-up to Radio 1's Big Weekend.

"With this amazing line-up and event on the banks of the River Clyde, it's promising to be a fantastic precursor to all of our events in Glasgow."

Radio 1Xtra DJ MistaJam said: "T he line-up is not only massive but also made up of artists I've had the pleasure of supporting on 1Xtra since the early days of their careers.

"Plus, the Glaswegian crowd really know how to party so it's going to be the perfect way to start the summer."

Fifty thousand tickets for the Big Weekend were snapped up in just over half-an-hour last month.

The festival is being held over the weekend of May 24-25 at Glasgow Green, with the full line-up to be announced later this month.

A further 14,000 tickets for an additional dance event in the city on May 23 have also been given away.

Radio 1 DJs Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Zane Lowe and Danny Howard will all star in the George Square party to kick-start the weekend.
