Teaching trio held in porn probe

Three teaching staff have been arrested on suspicion of possession of extreme pornography as part of a continuing police investigation.

The men, aged 36, 37, and 32, were all arrested at their homes in Birmingham and Wolverhampton this morning, West Midlands Police said.

Police said all three are employed as teachers or teaching staff at two Birmingham schools.

Officers from the force's public protection unit are now questioning the men.

A police spokesman said: "One man is employed at Park View School and the other two men at Golden Hillock School in Birmingham.

"Their management have been notified as well as the Department for Education. Both continue to support the police investigation."

Their arrests come following the launch of a police investigation in April 2013 as a result of an on-going enquiry into the sharing of extreme pornography.

A police spokesman added the inquiry was unconnected to the separate Birmingham City Council investigation into the so-called Operation Trojan Horse allegations, which centre on claims made in an anonymous letter posted to local authorities and teaching unions that a group of hard-line Muslims is attempting a take-over of a number of city centre schools.
