Snow forecast for England and Wales

A severe weather warning has been issued for snow across England and Wales tomorrow.

The yellow warning, which means "be prepared", was issued by the Met Office for the last day of winter.

Forecasters said areas on high ground will be most affected, while snow is unlikely to accumulate on low ground.

However many areas may see falling snow and slush, potentially disrupting the morning rush hour.

The UK has enjoyed a warmer than average winter so far, with today's highest temperature recorded as 12.5C in Gravesend, Kent.

But the mercury is set to plummet to as low as 6C in the South and 5C in the North tomorrow.

The Met Office's chief forecaster said: " An area of low pressure is expected to move eastwards on Friday. There is considerable uncertainty in its track and therefore on the risk and location of any snow.

"This warning will be kept under review and the public are advised to keep up to date with the forecast and warnings."
