International designer John Rocha said his show at London Fashion Week will be all about "celebrating fashion".

Fresh from a reception at Downing Street, Rocha said people should expect the colours associated with the season for his autumn/winter 2013 collection showcase at Somerset House.

The Dublin resident stopped to chat with friends and smoked a cigarette at the backstage door of the Courtyard show space after his arrival. Speaking about his show, he said: "A winter forest colour - it's all about balance and harmony and celebrating fashion."

Originally from Hong Kong, Rocha, who plans to go fishing in Patagonia to relax after Fashion Week, said the event appears to be a success so far.

"I've just arrived here and from what I've seen so far it's a great one," he said.

His Irish base appears to have influences on the collection he is exhibiting, with "diverse notions from the Wicklow countryside", according to the London Fashion Week website.

The veteran designer, who has said his key piece is a "hand crochet jacket", remarked on the significant global attention the event has attracted. He said: "I understand there's lots of international buyers."

Music superstar Rihanna has said she is hoping to attract "fashion gods" this weekend as her collection for fashion retailer River Island is showcased. The pop star's spring/summer 2013 clothes and accessories will be revealed to the world for the first time.

Meanwhile, across town in the lavish surroundings of Goldsmiths' Hall, The Saturdays and Pixie Lott turned out for Julien Macdonald's showcase which ended with an explosion of gold confetti.

The girl band were met by a frenzy of photographers who all wanted to get a snap of the five-piece together after a period spent in the US filming a television show. The fashionistas took front row seats in the luxurious venue which was set off by four huge candle-lit chandeliers.
