The Prince of Wales will visit a charity that provides support for people affected by cancer during a trip to Scotland today.

Charles will meet volunteers, staff, service users and board members of CLAN Cancer Support in Aberdeen.

The Prince, who holds the title of Duke of Rothesay while in Scotland, will see the residential facilities at CLAN and learn about the complementary therapies available before he is to unveil a plaque to mark the occasion.

In November 2011, the charity moved to the new purpose-built cancer support centre at Westburn Road in Aberdeen which incorporates a library and information centre as well as areas for relaxation, therapies, counselling and children and families.

There is also outdoor space and next to the centre is CLAN Haven which provides accommodation for patients and their family when travelling from outside Aberdeen for appointments and treatments in the city's hospitals.

The charity was established in 1983 and for 30 years has offered comfort, support and information free of charge to anyone affected by cancer such as patients, carers, family and friends of people with cancer.

CLAN is based in Aberdeen with nine local centres across the north east of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland which covers an area with 10% of the Scottish population.
