17 April 2014

Four women have been arrested over an alleged plot involving bogus resignation letters at a primary school.

West Midlands Police said the four were being questioned as part of a fraud investigation at Adderley Primary School, Saltley, Birmingham.

Police stressed the arrests were not related to Birmingham City Council's "Trojan Horse" probe into allegations of a takeover plot in Birmingham schools by Muslim hardliners.

The women were arrested by the West Midlands Economic Crime Unit at around 7am at separate addresses. A 47-year-old woman was arrested in Ward End, a 40-year-old in Sparkhill, a 45-year-old in Alum Rock and a 47-year-old in Solihull.

They are being questioned at a Birmingham police station.
