Detectives have been granted extra time to question a man on suspicion of murder after two bodies were found at a block of flats.

A 69-year-old woman was found in a flat in Walsall, in the West Midlands, with fatal injuries during the early hours of Saturday morning.

The body of a man believed to be in his 30s was then discovered by officers on ground behind the apartments in Acacia Avenue on the Yew Tree Estate.

Police arrested a 43-year-old suspect at the scene and he remains in custody.

A cause of death in respect of each of the victims has not yet been established.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said on Sunday: "Forensic post-mortems are taking place at the moment on the two victims and results are unlikely to be available until tomorrow morning."
