26 August 2012

Police investigating the disappearance of a 14-year-old girl say they have found a body in woodland.

A major search was launched after Jessica Blake was reported missing from her home in Beverley, East Yorkshire, on Saturday.

Officers said they found a girl's body in a wooded area off Chester Avenue in the town just after 4pm on Sunday.

Her death is not believed to be suspicious.

A formal identification of the body has yet to be carried out but Jessica's family has been told, Humberside Police said.

A police and RAF helicopter and an underwater search team took part in the hunt for the teen.

Jessica, who was said to have left home in a distressed state, had a paper round and was last seen carrying a yellow newspaper bag.

Earlier police had found an abandoned bike but have not yet confirmed it belonged to her.
