'You're in such good shape': Donald Trump makes 'weird and creepy' remark to Brigitte Macron

Donald Trump has been accused of sexism over “creepy” remarks praising the figure of French President Emmanuel Macron's wife Brigitte.

The US President told the 64-year-old during his first state visit to France: "You're in such good shape".

A clip of the comments, after which he turns to Emmanuel Macron, and reiterates “she’s in such good physical shape”, were posted on the French government’s Facebook page on Thursday, the Guardian reported.

He then appeared to turn back to Mrs Macron and say: “Beautiful”.

The comments sparked backlash on social media with many branding the comments "creepy" and "sexist".

Chris Lines wrote on Twitter: “Trump doesn't even begin to understand why his "good shape" remark to Brigitte Macron was grossly inappropriate and offensive.”

Melinda Mosheim called the comments “rude and creepy” while Alex Berg wrote: “The comment is like catcalling — never about beauty, it's about power. It's a reminder that #Trump and men have power over our bodies.”

Andi Ludden Reilly tweeted: “another creepy #Trump comment to #BrigitteMacron . #itsnotokay I know #Trump would find me unattractive and therefore worthless.”

Another user described the exchange as “truly creepy”.

In October last year, Mr Trump became embroiled in a huge row after leaked video footage emerged of the 70-year-old discussing “grabbing women by the p*****.”

A further tape emerged the same month of the then 46-year-old former business man leering at a 10-year-old girl on Entertainment Tonight and saying: “I am going to be dating her in 10 years. Can you believe it?"

The US president was discussing issues such as Brexit and migration with the Taoiseach - Ireland's premier - when he broke off to mention the “beautiful Irish press”.

He then singled out RTE News reporter Caitriona Perry and asked her to come over to his desk in the Oval Office.

“Well we have a lot of your Irish press watching us, they’re just now leaving the room,” he said, before looking at Ms Perry and saying: “Go ahead. Come here, come here. Where are you from? We have all of this beautiful Irish press.

“She has a nice smile on her face so I bet she treats you well.”

The White House declined to comment on the statement, according to the Guardian.

Mr Macron, 39, is France’s youngest leader since Napolean.
