WWE star Shane McMahon suffered multiple injuries after leaping from a 40ft cage during a Smackdown competition.

The son of WWE owner Vince McMahon broke several ribs and fractured his shoulder after leaping from the structure during Sunday’s Hell in a Cell clash with Kevin Owens.

A failed attempt to land on his opponent saw the 47-year-old smash through a table.

Medics rushed to his aid before he was stretchered into an ambulance.

A WWE spokesman told the Sun: "SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon has been taken to a local medical facility after leaping from the top of Hell in a Cell and crashing through an announce table during his brutal Falls Count Anywhere Hell in a Cell Match against Kevin Owens.

"A preliminary report has determined that Shane may be dealing with multiple injuries, including neck trauma, fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder.

"While nothing has been confirmed at this time, WWE.com will continue to monitor Shane’s condition."
