Watch incredible footage of Irish tourist taking on mob of Turkish shopkeepers

An astonishing video purporting to a show an Irish tourist single-handedly taking on a huge mob of Turkish shopkeepers has gone viral.

The holiday-maker allegedly enraged the men by opening a fridge and accidentally causing several water bottles to tumble out into the street.

But it seems the shopkeepers picked on the wrong guy – as the well-built tourist turned out to be an adept boxer.

In the incredible footage, he stands his ground to take on the fast-growing group of attackers, landing a series of powerful blows and knocking one man in a striped T-shirt to the ground.

He withstands everything they can throw at him – including blows from clubs and stools – before the assailants eventually give up.

Weapons: The man was attacked with clubs and chairs

The footage has now been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

It was recorded earlier this month in the Aksaray neighbourhood in Istanbul according to local reports.

A source at the Irish consulate in Istanbul told The Independent: “The shop owner overreacted and attacked the tourist with a stick.

“The surprising thing is that the tourist turned out to be a pro boxer and knocked down the angry shopkeepers one by one.”
