Warner Brothers has launched legal action against Donald Trump after he used music from The Dark Knight rises in a ‘Make America Great Again’ tweet.

The US president posted a promotional video for his 2020 presidential re-election campaign which featured Hans Zimmer's Why Do We Fall? from the 2012 film.

The two-minute clip, captioned “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”, also featured the film's title cards.

In response, the entertainment giant released a statement saying: "The use of Warner Bros' score from The Dark Knight Rises in the campaign video was unauthorised.

"We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed."

While the tweet itself is still available, the video has since been replaced by a message stating: "This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner."

It is not the first time the US President has faced legal action over copyright issues.

Artists including The Rolling Stones, Prince and Pharrell Williams have disputed the use of their music at Mr Trump’s campaign rallies.
