Vladimir Putin has told the Russian people the West intends to “cancel” their country in a national address.

He ignored Volodymyr Zelensky’s historic address to the US Congress in which the Ukraine president invoked the horror of the 9/11 terror attacks and pleaded for more military support.

Meanwhile, Putin lashed out at the West and said it would not succeed in what he described as an “attempt to achieve global dominance”.

The Russian leader insisted the West “does not understand Russia” if they think his country will retreat.

Earlier in the speech, Mr Putin claimed Russia didn’t want to occupy Ukraine.

He claimed Ukraine had planned aggression against Russia that would be been backed by Western powers.

He also the West want to create an “anti-Russia” and do not care about the Ukrainian people.

“The West doesn’t even bother to hide the fact that its aim is to damage the entire Russian economy, every Russian,” Putin said.
