Turkey shooting: Four dead as gunman opens fire at Osmangazi University

A gunman has shot and killed four people at a university in central Turkey.

The attack occurred at Osmangazi University in the city of Eskisehir, according to the local Dogan news agency.

Police have apprehended the suspect, believed to be a member of university staff, on campus - some 150 miles from the capital city of Ankara.

The Anadolu agency reported that the dead are a deputy dean, a secretary and two teaching staff. The deaths were unofficially confirmed by resident Professor Hasan Gonen.

Hurriyet newspaper said three other people were wounded. Relatives of the victims reportedly rushed to the university as soon as news of the attack broke.

The motive for the attack was not immediately known.
