The student who killed ten people in an attack on his high school in Texas has been identified as 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis – who shared pictures of weapons on Instagram.

He was detained by police following a stand-off at Santa Fe High School on Friday morning, after shooting fellow students and planting bombs.

An Instagram account under Pargoutzis’ name shared a picture of a gun and a knife in April, accompanied by the words "Hi f***ers."

The account, which has now been taken down, posted only two other pictures; one of a frog and another of an arcade shooting game.

A now-deleted Facebook page under the 11th grader’s name recently posted an image of a t-shirt with “born to kill” emblazoned across it.

The Facebook bio reveals he lives in Santa Fe and is single.

The page also includes information about his YouTube channel, Comma Kazi, where he has posted several rap videos.

“YouTube is a Comma Kazi. It’s the one with the kamikaze pilot,” it says. “I’ve got a few playlists there.”

Another Facebook post shows a black trench coat which matches reports of the coat worn by the shooter during the massacre on Friday.

Alongside the picture of the coat, which is adorned with various trinkets, he wrote: “Duster Hammer and Sickle = Rebellion Rising Sun = Kamikaze Tactics Iron Cross = Bravery Baphomet = Evil Cthulhu = Power.” The iron cross was a famous German military symbol during the Nazi regime.

Pagourtzis plays on the Santa Fe High School junior varsity football team, and is a member of a dance squad with a local Greek Orthodox church.

A note on the Santa Fe Indians football team’s website praised him for playing a “huge role” in a game last October.

Pagourtzis' social media profiles were quickly taken down

Some students claimed on social media he had been a victim of bullying at the school.

A woman who answered the phone at a number associated with the Pagourtzis family declined to speak with the AP.

He had only posted three pictures on Instagram

She said: "Give us our time right now, thank you.

Father Stelios Sitaras of Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Galveston, Texas, said he met Pagourtzis when the young man danced with a group as part of an annual festival in October. He said the Pagourtzises are members of a nearby parish.

Sitaras said he had never heard of the teen being in any sort of trouble.

"He is a quiet boy," the priest said. "You would never think he would do anything like this."

A second person of interest was also being questioned, the local sheriff said.
