Two hikers missing after avalanche in Switzerland

Two hikers are missing after an avalanche in the Swiss canton of Valais.

It was initially believed ten people were missing but authorities later revised this figure.

Police said the incident took place at an altitude of 2,500m in an area called Col de Fenestral.

Valais is a popular skiing holiday destination, located on the borders of France and Italy.

A search is currently under way.
