A Swedish freestyle rider has become the first person to successfully perform a double backflip in a snowmobile.

Daniel Bodin had been in a race with two American rivals to complete the stunt.

He did so in a forest near his home in Malung on Monday.

The 31-year-old told Red Bull: “I have always felt that this trick was mine and I simply couldn’t let anybody else beat me to it.

“But pulling off a double for the first time in a competition didn’t feel right.

"I wanted to do it without the pressure and in an environment that I could control.”

There have been a number of previous high-profile attempts at the elusive trick, which has become something of a Holy Grail in the world of freestyle snowmobiling.
